Roberto Galeazzi — The Wizard of the Deep
To understand the Galeazzi Artiglio, you have to go back to Roberto Galeazzi himself.
In 1926, Galeazzi patented his innovative spherical-zone diving structure, an important development in underwater engineering. His approach created a lighter and more manoeuvrable structure while maintaining its ability to operate at significant depth.
His inventions would later become closely associated with some of the most remarkable underwater recovery operations of the era.
In the early 1930s, the Italian salvage vessel Artiglio was involved in the recovery of the cargo of the SS Egypt, a British steamer that had sunk in the Bay of Biscay. The wreck lay approximately 130 metres below the surface, presenting an extraordinary challenge for the technology of the time.
Galeazzi's engineering, combined with the expertise of legendary diver Alberto Gianni and the Artiglio operation, helped make the recovery possible.
The scale and difficulty of the achievement earned Roberto Galeazzi the enduring nickname:
“The Wizard of the Deep.”

The SQUALE Galeazzi Artiglio has been created specifically to commemorate the centenary of Roberto Galeazzi's pioneering spherical diving-structure patent.
Rather than simply reproducing an historic instrument, SQUALE has taken the story and translated it into a modern professional dive watch.

The Galeazzi Artiglio has a 39.5mm 316L stainless steel case, giving it a strong presence while maintaining a highly wearable diameter.

The watch is rated to 600 metres / 60 ATM, placing it firmly within SQUALE's professional dive-watch tradition.
Inside is the ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, an established Swiss mechanical calibre with a 42-hour power reserve. The Galeazzi Artiglio is deliberately presented without a date display, keeping the dial focused on its essential information.
The deep blue Pantone 295U dial is complemented by applied domed indexes and Super-LumiNova BGW9 for visibility in low-light conditions.
